History

Mercurion was originally built as a sand barge on behalf of the city of Stockholm in 1905. After the time as a sand barge, the vessel was used as a floating business premises for flowers and plants in Nybroviken; during the late 70s and early 80s she was there under the name Djungelbåten. She was later sold and an impressive rebuild began under the direction of Benny Fredriksson, with a background as a ventilation technician at AGA. He had a very expensive ventilation system and hull insulation constructed, as well as the new superstructure and its insulation. The rebuilding took place for the most part in Stockholm's Frihamn, berth 625, 1987-1988. The ship was then berthed at Söder Mälarstrand and used as an office for the MTU/Mercedes marine engine department, before the furniture company ISKU took over the lease. The current owner has since 2007 conducted office operations on the ship with approx. 25 office spaces.
